Stephen Godsall plays a customised electronic guitar system, giving access to a whole range of soundscapes, arpeggios, samples and effects which can be manipulated live. Playing finger style on nylon strings, it is possible to create a different sound on each string or to switch instantly between classical guitar, electric guitar or bass sounds. Loops can be recorded and played back in real time, creating exciting counterpoint from a single instrument. Sounds range from lyrical singing lines reminiscent of Jan Garbarek to explorations of the frontiers of noise which recall the pioneering work of Derek Bailey and Thurston Moore.
A whole library of loops to use in your own music will soon be available for download on the RESOURCES page.
